EDIT: A further thought on any idea of using conventional weedkillers on that garden is that the house may next be bought by an organic gardener...and they might find out you have contaminated their land....and I don't think anyone would want to be in your shoes at that point..

I would have thought that anyone buying a property with a view to gardening organically would have to take the view that the property had not been gardened organically in the past and move forward accordingly.

I will be finding more natural ways of dealing with matters on The Other Side if I find the wall doesn't work

Once you've arrived at the Other Side, it will be too late...

I will be finding more natural ways of dealing with matters on The Other Side if I find the wall doesn't work totally, but I'm hoping that will be sufficient to do the trick and make sure my garden remains clear from invasion.

Just remember that the wall needs to be 700 feet high to keep wildlings and White Walkers out.

Our next door neighbour's house is very much like this, hasn't been lived in for a year and the back garden grass is more of a wading height now.

Couldn't care less tbh, enjoying the peace and quiet :)

There's a house behind me like this. Our back garden backs on to his. He's a middle aged bloke living alone. A recluse type. Very occasionally you see a dim light on in the house but that's all. He's no bother at all. His garden is about 4' high at the moment but in winter it sort of dies down to about 1' high! A haven for the birds and hedgehogs etc. The house is very neglected too. However, I much prefer the recluse than possibly a noisy neighbour.

Unfortunately since my post, whilst the garden is still overgrown but lovely and quiet, my next door neighbour has died. A shame as we all thought he would come back home with help after his hospital stay. I now dread who our neighbours might be particularly as the garden is big enough to develop if planning permission is given.
