Came down to my car (private car park) to find a ticket on my car today from P4Parking saying I hadn't displayed my permit. Unknown to me my permit fell from my dash so being able to rectify it was not possible.
I've appealed to them and have sent an email saying:
I am emailing to appeal a parking charge notice
PCN No: 2146654733
Notice Date: 23/05/14 14:52pm
Registration:
Seen at P088:
I am appealing as I have the right to park in this space and my car details have been logged by the Gallions housing association. I display my right to park in the space constantly but on this unfortunate occasion through no fault of my own my parking card has fallen from my dashboard which I was unable to rectify at the time. Shown in the picture is my proof of display card in relation to the specific space in question. I find it unfair that I should have to pay a fine for parking in space that I have the right to park in as my details have been logged with the housing association in control of private garage. I would urge you to check with the Gallions housing association to check my registration details match the logged registration that they have for the parking space EF in the ...... estate of ......
I refuse to pay this as its my dedicated space and is the first time this has happened to me so what should I do now?
Thanks
Sam.

What did they say in their email? If they gave you a POPLA code then you need to appeal to POPLA as per the Newbies sticky thread. Note that POPLA will not be interested in the permit slipping etc.0

First, you need to read the NEWBIES sticky at the top of the forum index; spend some time reading that while awaiting your reply from P4P, which I can virtually guarantee will say 'Rejected, pay up!'
Second, learn that this is not a fine, it is a speculative invoice; it has no statutory standing.
Third, forget about the 'this is what happened, I'm a law-abiding citizen, it's never happened before' stuff. The NEWBIES sticky will guide you through and help you understand that you need to tackle the PPC on technical issues and aspects of law.
Come back if you're unsure of anything, and also when you get a response to your 'appeal'.Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Ok, first off thanks for the quick response. I take It I was wrong to write that email then?
I've had a look at the newbies sticky and it's quite a lot to take in not to mention a bit confusing so I'm now begining to think I have no chance of wining this and should just pay it?
What should I do once I hear back from them because I've got little money as it is and am starting to worry not to mention being angry that I've been fined for parking in my own space.0 -
It wasn't 'wrong' to write the email appeal, but as it was purely on 'mitigation' the PPC will think you're a 'soft touch' and they can hassle you into paying without much trouble. Sending the forum' appeal gives them fair warning that they've got a fight on their hands - and they are likely to lose in the process.
A small minority can see the futility of taking on a forum-assisted challenge and cancel at the initial appeal stage, but most (and we're not talking about the Brains of Britain in this crowd) plough on to almost inevitable defeat (lemmings!).
But if you're not up for taking this on yourself, you might want to consider this service. It is run by two trusted and knowledgeable forum members, who, for £16, will take it on for you and win the case (if they lose, they will pay the ticket for you - guaranteed).

So you have the choice, pick this up yourself, do the reading and research, put together an appeal to POPLA (most of it is written already and accessible via the NEWBIES sticky) and the whole thing should cost you nothing.
Or, hand it over to PTAS and they'll do it all for £16.Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

Thanks,
I'm going to speak to my housing association first, see the reply from P4Parking (which I don't doubt will be a rejection) and then I think it would be the wiser choice to hand over the PTAS as I'd rather pay £16 than £60.
Ill post p4parkings response in due course.
Thanks again.

OK it's up to you and £16 isn't much and the PTA is run by respected posters from here - but P4Parking are soooo easy to beat at POPLA you could do it yourself without help, standing on your head, just by using a template POPLA appeal from the NEWBIES thread post #3.
What you DO NOT do is send the same sort of appeal to POPLA as you did above (that hasn't done you any harm but it would certainly lose at POPLA). However they will be dead easy to win just by saying 'no GPEOL' and no standing/authority' exactly as shown in the examples in post #3 of the NEWBIES thread. It's not exactly rocket science after all, to send a template POPLA appeal suitably tweaked! All these newbies linked here reported success without even needing to start a thread about it:
