    Hello CRT.

I couldn't read and run so please take the following as intended (to be helpful). Reading rather than talking can sometimes come across as not intended.

About the OU, you may be able to get financial assistance.
    Bringing down the cost

    Financial support
If you’re on benefits or your income is less than £25,000, we have two ways to help:

You may be eligible for a free introductory Access module to build your confidence and skills before moving on to a full OU course.
Help once you’ve registered, towards study-related costs like travel, childcare and internet access.
Please look here under "Bringing down the costs". You should be able to contact them here.

With regards to your mental health, please see a doctor. You must prioritise your health, I've had fibromyalgia since I was 17 and I wish I had pushed myself to bother my doctors sooner.

Please don't feel too down about your situation. You're not ridiculous, you're very brave to be facing up to debts and you're incredibly brave to be working for yourself. I'm not sure that I could be so brave.

Finally, good luck with your debt busting.

Hi there - have read your diary and you have had some good advice from killerpeaty and GunWharf.

I do feel for you as you are obviously so depressed and I do hope that there is a way where you could can find a sympathetic ear to your troubles.

Once you have properly sorted out what your financial commitments are it may be worthwhile posting a Statement of Account on the Debt Free Wannabe board as those people are awesome in their advice.

With regard to your procrastination, have you ever thought of the Flylady website? On preliminary viewing you may wonder why I have directed you to it as it will appear to be all about housework and decluttering routines! But delving deeper it covers routines to help you cope with procrastination in everyday life. As well as stay at home mums, people as diverse as working parents, pensioners, students, etc have all found it incredibly useful (especially people who feel depressed and overwhelmed) - it covers housework, office routines, routines for studying, money, and even clearing out your car! Please have a look. There is also a board on the MSE forum dedicated to flylady, though it mostly covers the housework, decluttering side of things.

Hope all goes well for you and will be popping in to see how you are doing.

Well done on completing the first year of your degree CRT86 :D

You are certainly not 'pathetic and useless', and if you can succeed at degree level study, you can certainly sort out your finances. Perhaps you are trying to do too much at once, looking at the whole picture instead of setting smaller, more manageable goals, and feeling overwhlemed, especially if you are depressed? Why not start off by giving yourself the challenge of not buying anything unnecessary for a month (or even a week, baby steps)? Or throw all you can at one debt, while still paying the minimum on the others? Even small amounts help :) I started with the smallest debt, and it gave me a real boost of encouragement to get started on the next one, once it was paid off :D

As regards, all the 'stuff', decluttering etc, have you thought about selling some of it on ebay or via a facebook group or similar? Might make a few pennies towards the debt repayments, or you could earmark it for an emergency fund instead, as it is money you wouldn't otherwise have had :)

I am really concerned that you feel unable to speak to your GP about your mental health. Perhaps you should change to a surgery unconnected to your family, particularly as you do not find the doctor particularly helpful in any case :(

Keep posting on here, you will get loads of encouragement and hopefully some new ideas x
