Hi
my bf is being released on a home detention curfew and needs an address. we have been together for a while but are both older 46 and 50. I dont know whether to take the plunge for financial reasons
i currently receive income based ESA support group, severe disablement DLA middle care, higher mobility. tax credit for 3 children, full HB and i pay £20 a month towards my CT
my bf will have part time voluntary work with a charity and part of that is studying for his NVQ3 as he is half way to becoming a peer mentor with that charity
My question is, if I agree to him coming to live with me, do I lose any of my benefits? because he hopes to claim JSA
Thanks in advance

you will also need to add him to your ESA claim.
you will lose the severe disability premium as you will no longer be living alone..
the amount of ESA you will receive as a couple therefire, will probably be about the same amount as youre getting now.
if he provides care for you for ay least 35 per week, he could claim carers allowance.
this would be deducted from your ESA nut would attract an additional carers premium of around £35 a week

If you have to consider cash over love then is it the right thing to do ?"Man invented language to satisfy his deep need to complain."

Thank you all already
teahc: the reason I ask is that he will eventually get his own address. that was always the plan and so its temporary because the hostels are full
he has a child with a woman who would not allow child to stay over here. (yes even more complications )
we hadnt anticipated this. the prison concerned just want him out now he is eligible, its almost as if they need the bed!
nanny: some great info thank you
bubbles: yes I always report everything. i had a benefits tribunal many years ago whereby i didnt declare a bank account and they said it made my CT fraudulant it had 43p in it and well lets not go there but DWP backed me because they knew and it was a messy time
thanks

Council tax: you will loose your single person entitlement, because you will be 2 adults;
how old are your children and is this the right move for them? it may be much harder for him to find a place once he is at yours as his status will not class him as homeless and I am sure his probation officer could offer short term placement so he has an address (hope it goes well, but I would keep things the way they are)0
