Child Benefit

My son is 18 at the moment, will be 19 in September. He is taking A levels at the moment, then in September he is going to college to do level 2 fitness instruction and level 3 personal training. My question is can we still claim child benefit for him.

Out of interest, does the course need to have actually begun before they turn 19, or does enrolling count? My friend has a lad who will be 19 in the summer holidays. The course starts in August, but he will turn 19 a fortnight before the course starts. Could she still claim?

If he is 18 when accepted on the course she will still get Child Benefit providing its one of the HMRCs approved courses/qualifications
