KLM hand luggage -how strict?

I'm going to Amsterdam, hand luggage only and am borrowing a case. However on checking the measurements although the capacity is similar the dimensions don't quite fit those on the KLM website. It's a few centimetres out (either narrower and longer, or wider and shorter, can't remember which off the top of my head.)
Just wondered if anyone knows if this is likely to be a problem?
Thanks

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

You know the maximum size you have 'paid for' in your ticket price. If you try to get away with something you have not paid for and it ends up costing you money - whose fault will it be?
You might well be fine, but if not ......Turning left avoids some of the idiots (only some)0 -
As long as the total linear cms are the same it should be OK. Add the length + width + depth. It should total no more than 115cm IIRC.0

Well, it's a long time since I've flow with KLM so this may be the case with them, but with many airlines if any of the dimensions exceed the maximum allowed you stand a chance of it being charged as checked luggage. If it doesn't fit entirely within the measuring frame then it could be a costly error.0 -
Ignore he post talking about total dimensions, it's incorrect. That said, I've never seen anyone having their luggage measured on a KLM flight. So to answer your question, you'll most likely be ok. I take it you know that you can check a piece of luggage for free if you sign up for their frequent flyer program (which is also free), right?0

Yes I saw that, thanks.
I don't want to take a big suitcase, but if I sign up and do have a problem would I then be able to send the hand luggage through in the hold for free? All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

KLM flights are usually chocca block full, as AMS is a hub airport, so a lot of airlines use them for transit PAX. Been on a few and never seen any issues.
Spoke about this once before, but on flight back from AMS to MAN, a very large Ghanian women and small child got on the plane last. Child under her arm, about 6 carrier bags and 3 very large holdalls. She dumped the bags , said to the purser, sort them out and walked off to the back of the plane. He loaded it all up in the first class luggage cupboard at the front of the plane. The size of other bags taken on board were massive too.
I think we take more notice in the UK, than they do elsewhere.0 -

I asked KLM a very similar question and this was their reply. If the total dimensions of your hand luggage do not exceed 115 cm, you may bring it with you in the cabin. As your carry-on luggage is exactly 115 cm, it will be accepted on board. Please, do not hesitate to contact us again.
It may be different for other airlines, but the OP was asking about KLM.0 -
I flew to Amsterdam with them last year. It was a small plane and all the hand luggage got left at the bottom of the steps when we got on the plane and put in the holdI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Health & Beauty, Greenfingered Moneysaving and How Much Have You Saved boards. Might help, but I have a Flying Blue card with KLM, not flown with them for years, but because I was a member they were offering me a bag for free. I'm also on the bottom tier of their loyalty programme. I'd take a chance, join their loyalty programme, add the number to your booking and see if they offer a hold bag for free. Not really got much to lose.0
