How many Retweets before winning?

I just found this thread before I was going to post about twitter. It has made me think about how 'random' the selection of the prize winner is. Whats to stop them choosing a winner from friends/employees or favouring people with 1000's of follows rather than people like me with only a few followers. It doesn't seem to be very governed in anyway so I understand peoples frustration when they have entered 1000's of times and won nothing.

Anyone have any light to shine on this?

Twitter comps are bonkers, quite frankly. You see the same names crop up over and over again and you wonder how they manage to win so often? I have no idea especially as they're purely comping accounts. It shouldn't matter if you have two or two thousand followers there is a thread on here (sorry, I don't have it to hand) where you can post your twitter name for and ask for followers.

If there are any funny shenanigans like, the winner knows/works for the organisers or the prize isn't awarded people (compers) do tend to get to the bottom of it and even complain to the IPM (The Institute of Promotional Marketing).

I've found that twitter wins are few and far between, possibly because it's the simplest method of entry and there are those who have multiple accounts or use automated entries.

I would say though, keep plugging away and if you spot anything dodgy you can always mention it here.

Thanks Sydroo for the welcome and shining some light on it. As you said its so simple to enter (I think I have entered about 200 in a few days) that a win is bound to come some time. Hey ho thats what comping all about

For me, I won a couple of times but it was before I joined here and started actually comping. I think there were fewer entries back then (maybe 1.5 to 2 yrs ago at a guess).


I've not won anything from twitter for a long time but I don't enter for the really low value stuff like merchandising products etc. At least, not very often. Decent beauty stuff and homewares are my normal type of twitter comps.
