We had some items for sale approx £5 in value with £3.30 postage 2nd Class Royal Mail (We always add on 50p to cover cost of brown paper, tape etc) items didn't sell.

We added approx £2.50 to the items making them listed price of £7.50 with £1.99 postage (we always combine postage so if they wanted more than one item we would still charge £1.99 to post (and indeed this did happen) Therefore we make an extra £2.50 on the 2nd item and they get low postage and they're happy.

When buying I always sort the list by selecting Price and P&P - Lowest First and consider the total price paying (also check their feedback before purchasing)

hamly? If you open a dispute you get all the money back that you paid in the 1st instance. You wont get the return costs though. So makes no difference what the postage prices was.

I sort by lowest price with p&p. So makes no difference if its free or £4 postage.

But i have been skipping sellers that list multiple items with sil;ly low priced items included to get it to the top of the search results.

Looking for something thats £10 - £15. Oh look some for 99p...No its a battery or a clip or something that may not be related to the actual item.

I make a note of those sellers and dont buy from them at any price.

When i see an item title i want the listing to be for that item not have to go into it and find the price is for something different.

The only difference would be on receipt. The buyer is more likely to be annoyed if they see a postage payment of 50p cost when they've paid £4 for it. It may be illogical but buyers don't like it if the seller is earning too much. It does work the other way too, if the seller postage has a £5 stamp on it and they've only paid £4 they're likely to be happier than the one with inclusive post.

When I buy I look at the total costs not the headline..

Even though it's against eBay rules and they are clearly using the money to line there pockets and pay there fees etc.

I'm afraid there are eBay fees on postage contrary to what some of the posters above are stating.

Least with the 'free' P&P it's quite clear, it's there to be abused. There making money off the postage etc. Fair enough. Your signing up to that fact, so no worries. Because that's being honest.

But when there charging £7 and really it cost £1.10 its misleading. Your after all paying for that 'postage' Then that's NOT being honest. And the buyer has every right to be angry!

Re just one of your red highlights:-

I charge £4.00 post/packing for some of the things I sell, actual postage is £3.20. I make no profit but do cover all my costs inc ebay fees and ebay say I can charge up to £7.00 should I so wish.

The fact that self righteous crusading peeps such as your self now have the power to ruin a seller on ebay with the new defect system is just another nail in ebay's coffin.

I'd take £12 all-in for one item, makes it easier to compare.

If I was buying multiple items, I'd look at the per unit plus postage charge (to combine postage)
