Combi fault - likely cost?

Following on from my gas fire woes I also need a fault fixing on my Glowworm 24CXi combi. It won't top up when the valve is opened. Reading around this is common and the plastic one was replaced by a metal one later on. Anybody know what this roughly will cost? I see in yellow pages some firms seem to class themselves as glowworm specialists and carry many spares on the van claiming a fix in one visit. Second question , is it worth going for one of these to avoid a second visit?

Doesn't really matter does it, just get a total cost??
For your safety make sure any cut price outfit is actually registered with GS. I do have a caveat here that if it is the wet side of the boiler and doesn't involve combustion, any plumber should be able to help. I personally How old is the boiler?I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
if you are talking about changing the filling loop, then you can get them at any plumber's merchants for about a tenner. Ten minutes to fit it and it's not a job requiring an RGI.
There's nothing brand-specific about a filling loop. Any plumber or handyman can fit one.No free lunch, and no free laptop

The dogs don't do visitors and if I could get it done in one visit I would prefer it. Boiler is 8 years old.if you are talking about changing the filling loop, then you can get them at any plumber's merchants for about a tenner. Ten minutes to fit it and it's not a job requring an RGI.

This boiler has an inbuilt filling loop and you just open a valve.0
