Returning John Lewis Vouchers

Options
Apologies if this is wrong section.

Girlfriend's dad has given her some JL vouchers for her birthday to put towards a computer. Problem is she wanted to buy one elsewhere.
Obviously she can't exchange vouchers for cash but can her dad return them as he is the original buyer?
They say no. What are his rights as the vouchers have been bought in error?

Cheers.

He has no right to return the vouchers. Perhaps they could sell them on eBay?

They weren't bought in error though, they were bought as a gift for his daughter.

He has no rights at all I'm afraid.

Why would he have rights to return? He bought them in error, his fault.

All covered under SOGA, and, as above, he has no right to a refund. As suggested perhaps they could be sold on EBay, or if you can find someone making an expensive purchase in the store, you might persuade them to swap for cash - takes some cheek, but nothing ventured ........ You might even explain and 'sell' them for £45 losing a fiver but saving them a fiver!
If you want proper advice, please consult a legal professional. I am not one! Thanks.

If the computers cheaper elsewhere JL should price match it & have excellent customer service

    I agree with Spank.

Tell her to do a price match with JL after getting a price elsewhere, the upside is that JL almost always have
    a 2 year warranty.

Unlessssssssss, JL don't sell the machine, or the purchaser has a discount somewhere else (I get a family discount at Currys. J Lew are yet to match that for me ;);) Plus the nearest JL is an hour drive from me, so it's even less appealing)
