Has anyone bought one of these discount cards?
I wondered if there was a catch?

have never used them myself - only catch i can see is that you have to pay for dbb which could be up to £57.50 pp , but saying that , some of the prices look very good for some quite decent hotels

is it limited availability ?
book a year in advance ?

it mentions on the FAQ that it is primarily fro use by 2 adults - but the hotels may accomodate children

Yes, we registered with Travel Offers Ltd - we use it on a regular basis to visit some friends in the Midlands who can't put us up. We stay at the Angel at Market Harborough, there's no real catch, you pay for the Green "Directory of Free Hotel Accomodation" (Annual fee was about £30 last year) but make sure you get the correct directory/offer. When you book in, you have to state that you are booking asa Travel offer customer.

Then, when you arrive, you produce the card, and you have to pay for the evening meal, usually around £30 - £50 (Excluding wine etc) so if you are there as a party of 2 for two nights, it might cost you £160 but the accomodation is free, and you would probably be going out for a meal anyway?

I have just opened my mail and was about to send off funds to book this but will do some research first now I have seen this.
Many NUT members have just been sent renewals with their new Countdown cards so it is worth investigating and passing on what I find.

We have found Travel Offers brilliant. Only used them twice but easily covered our subscription and managed to stay for half normal price (including one hotel that I had paid much higher rates for before!)
I understand they are only selling surplus capacity but how many hotels are full every night?!
