overpaid tax credit.

hi i hope someone can help me i was informed at christmas that i was overpaid child tax credit and that i owed them £1798 i am currently on income support as i am a single parent with two kiddies. i gave all the correct details of my situation and income so surely this is their fault. i am currently paying back £80 a month but obviously most months it is a struggle to find the money. please can someone help me if they have been in the same situation. many thanks. sam

Have they explained why the overpayment came about?
Did you notify them of changes as they happened?

Have you appealed against the over payments if not why not phone the mup----s up and tell them you want to appeal and they will send you out a form to fill in dont take no for an answer they are allways making mistakes and try blaming you i am on my third appeal not giving in with out a big fight 4 years of mistakes they think they know it all.

Because it is easier to blame the staff at tax credits, calling them mu***ts than to find out why the overpayment occurred. Looks like it might be the end of the road anyway for tax credits in their present incarnation if David Cameron and Duncan Smith have their way.0
