Organic coconut oil is such a versatile product - wonderful as a moisturiser for your hair, face and body. Good to fry/cook with, too.

I've never used this but it sounds great. Does it really help with acne? My son suffers a bit from it and I can get dry skin so would be great if it is as good as people say

I think it's excellent - have used it for years. You can buy non organic, which is much cheaper but do spend the extra and buy the organic as you can't eat the non organic stuff; been through too many processes.
I mix it with a few drops of essential oil when using it on my face and body - good with citronella, geranium and lavender as an insect repellent; ideal for when on holiday, or walking with the dogs. If you have dry hair, good to mix through, put on a scarf/hat, whatever and leave to do its magic.

Hi thedogsmum, am desperate for an effective insect repellent as got bit to pieces a few weeks ago despite putting on commercial insect repellent.
When you mix with citronella, geranium and lavender and essential oil, do you put this on your body?

Hi Cupcake. You don't need coconut oil, you can mix the essential oil into any non-perfumed cream/lotion, if you prefer e.g. Simple, E45, etc., I prefer coconut oil for its moisturising properties. Citronnela and geranium are good repellers, and I add lavender as a calmer. As well as my skin, I add the essential oil to light bulbs and my pillow, when on holiday, too - put it into a spray bottle with water and spritz it on (just remember to do it before you put the light bulb on!). I usually take a small spritzer bottle out with me to spray on me, my clothes, and in the air, when I'm out and about, too. My friends usually laugh at me, but I have the last laugh as I'm not left dabbing stings and bites. I also react very badly to stings and bites, so this is something that's evolved for me over the years. Make sure you buy 'pure' essential oil, Tisserand is very good - but most of the chemists do their own versions which are pure, too. You only need a few drops - don't go bananas - and do a test on your inner arm to make sure you don't have a reaction. You shouldn't wear perfume if you don't want to attract nasties, either but you won't need it with this concoction - you'll smell lovely!

It seems to be £9.30 now, but there's a similar product called 'Ma Devlins' on Amazon (tried to do link but not working), anyway, it's organic etc and 500ml at £7.45.

I got my order yesterday of the above - dearer but my daughter swears by Coconut oil for everything from

The health benefits of coconut oil include hair care, skin care, stress relief, cholesterol level maintenance, weight loss, boosted immune system, proper digestion and regulated metabolism. It also provides relief from kidney problems, heart diseases, high blood pressure, diabetes, HIV, and cancer, while helping to improve dental quality and bone strength. These benefits of oil can be attributed to the presence of lauric acid, capric acid and caprylic acid, and their respective properties, such as antimicrobial, antioxidant, anti-fungal, antibacterial and soothing qualities.

I always buy my organic coconut oil from https://www.rawmiller.co.uk. It's £6.75 for 500ml and a small, family business too.
