My idiot of a Husband did this over the weekend :mad::mad::mad::mad: and has just told me that his bank account is being emptied, to the tune of £900 odd so far :eek::(:(.
He's in bits about it. Ive emptied all the money out of his accounts into mine, and I've been on with the bank to get all his cards stopped and accounts frozen. Ive just got to start on the process of getting the money back through the banks fraud dept.
PLEASE PLEASE BE CARFUL EVERYONE!

Well they can't get any more money which is the main thing at the moment. How easy it will be getting what he's lost back.....I don't knowThere's over 100 transactions for £9.07 to the same recipient. I have to question how that many transactions didn't set alarm bells ringing with the bank??
And seething :mad: I am with him, he should know better!0 -

Oh no! I hope you manage to get it all sorted! The banks should be helpful, they'll be used to the process of freezing accounts etc as you won't be the first or the last person to be got by the crooks.
I will say though that it is very easily done. My DH works in IT and is always so careful and aware of all these scams, and yet he still got fooled by a fake page which came up when he was logging into his online banking asking for more security details before it let him log in. It was only a few hours afterwards that it occurred to him what he'd done, luckily he got away without his account being targeted, but there's probably still someone out there using his ID for all we know
ETA: if the banks make things difficult in regards to getting your money back, make it clear that they should have raised the alarm after a couple of identical transactions appeared to the same recipient. I'd also mention about your DH's mental health problems and that they have an obligation to rectify things if it comes to it.0 -

I Use trend micro housecall whenever I get computer problems. It picks up things that ordinary security software doesn't. You can get it to scan your PC free & take away any spyware or trojans etc.

This was a message that popped up on FB saying it needed to update security details. He put his card details inI know I shouldn't be so  with him, but I he'd told me earlier if could have stopped it before it went this far
