But when you are spending that sort of cash it is just show ;)

This is something I don't quite agree with.

If someone has worked hard for their cash all life and they have a big passion for cars, then why not spend £50k, £100k, £200k etc on a great car that they love/enjoy?

    Why not 'show off'?

    :o

Let me use an example of how someone could quite easily afford a £100k car.

Millions of people smoke in the UK.

Let's take someone who smokes 20 cigarettes per day. They started at the age of 18 and now they're 58; a total of 40 years. Some periods they smoked 10/day and other periods 30/day; but their average is about 20/day. (I know of people who have smoked for more years and 30+ cigs/day.

If you use this calculator: http://www.canstopsmoking.com/tools/cost-calculator

You can see that their smoking has cost them £100k+ over those 40 years.

Same can be said for alcohol, nights out etc.

Now if I choose not to smoke and 'save' £100k over those years, is there a particular reason why I shouldn't buy a car that I have always wanted?

    :D

I could have invested that money from a younger age and turn it into £200k+, buy a better car, save half etc.

    Just sayin'....

bubbs remember that there is help if you do want to stop smoking.

Go and see your GP or pharmacist.

    Think of all that money.

To add to the above....the car is also likely to hold its value.

So you would get a decent return (albeit an overall loss) or even, rarely, a profit.
