    There's a fascinating but rather sobering discussion of the statistics behind retirement (particularly early retirement) in the 'Freakonomics' book, on their website too; just search for 'freakonomics early retirement' for more ... the web page title is bit too depressing for me to want to post, on a Bank Holiday.

    Most are dead by 1st Christmas :eek::D

    Cherish those you have in your life because you never know when they won't be there anymore.

    If the steaks are suitable for shallow frying then I would either fry or grill them (personally I prefer grilling) using the following method:
      Remove from the packaging and place on a metal baking tray;
      Bash them hard all over with the side of a wooden spoon to tenderise them. I always bash them in one direction and then rotate the tray 90 degrees and bash them in the other direction - excellent for stress relief! :D
      Brush with a little olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper;
      Leave out of the fridge for at least 15 minutes so that they are at room temperature before you start cooking them - open red wine to let it breathe and reach room temperature too!
      Meanwhile preheat the grill or frying pan to very hot
      Put the steaks under the grill or in frying pan and cook for 10 minutes (rare) 12 minutes (medium) or 14 - 15 minutes (well done) - TURN at least 3 -5 times during cooking times above:
      Serve!
      Eat!
