Gas meter replacement?

Hi,

Just had an email out of the blue from our supplier, Flow Energy, saying we need to provide a time for them to replace our gas meter.

Is this something that is done at a set interval of time? I've never had this before so was just a bit surprised.

Thanks.

    Yes they don't last forever!

It used to be anything up to 35 years but the modern meters generally get changed every 10 years.

If you moan a lot you can probably get them down to a reasonable time slot rather than an all day appointment. But be prepared to have to speak to someone higher up!

OK fair enough. Arranging a time shouldn't be a problem as my husband almost always works from home thankfully.

I might be wrong, but I thought it's about every 20 years
(although it was 10 years for battery operated display meters as the battery doesn't last much longer - they don't install these now, at least as credit meters - they've gone back to mechnical meters)

OP you can usually request a 2 hour time slot if you push, but often the supplier will try to offer you a morning, afternoon or evening slot only on request.

If you don't request, then they expect you to be in from 8am -8pm until they arrive. There is no cost for replacement and the whole job should only take about 10-20 minutes.

far from it, most are going electronic l&g 210
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

Isn't that the dual use one (supports prepay and credit) and the basis for British Gas smart metering?

Not sure non British Gas customers are getting them for standard credit accounts.
