Is a fine that will not even be noticed a form of forgiveness? If I was fined 25p for speeding or stealing, it would not be a deterrent.

You said it was a couple of days income for Barclays. I hope you earn more than £1.25 a week.

indeed, a butcher could make money by land speculation and derivative trading but then I probably wouldn't call her a butcher

Interesting sequence of posts Clapton.... if it's too personal pls don't answer, but what is your background? What do you did you work as? How old are you, do you still work? How much do you have invested in property and how much is your portfolio worth at the moment? How much do you currently have borrowed ?
    Peace.

what has that got to do with banks refusing to lend, so that property they don't own, appreciates in price (even though no-one can buy it as they can't get a loan)?

Abu Hanzas family have one. Sadly it appears you need to be a foreign terrorist with 7 or 8 kids to qualify.

Not sure what it has to do with regulating banks though.

I understand that Mrs Hanzas lives in an ordinary house which the taxpayer funds by housing benefit.

I would guess that £26 million is a minute or twos turnover for Barclays. That'll show them.

What do you think they should have been fined, based on the actual facts of the case?

Enough that a major shareholder would feel something. Say 1% of any planned dividend.
