Subject to survey?

I recently had a quote for double glazing - subject to survey. And now they want to add on £300 for scaffolding for one of the windows. I really believe they knew it would need the scaffolding but left it out to give a lower quote.

I knew it was a possibility that extras may be added but this feels dishonest! Any thoughts?

Also why the charge - they own the 'easydeck' so where is the extra cost? Some story about health and safety that I don't understand!

Call their bluff, ring and cancel. See if they drop the extra.

Even though it might still be a good price, if you think that they were being a bit underhand when trying to get customers, you also have to consider what their aftersales service could be like should you need it.

Good and trustworth businesses don't have to rely on tricks in order to entice customers, they simply let their reputation ethics work for them.

So go back to them to get an explanation for it, say you arent trying to argue it be removed but want to know what it is exactly/ why it was missed.

Tell them the extras push them over the cost of the competitor and you have decided to go elsewhere.

They will soon correct the quote - we did this with three different firms, a day and a half of emails between the three and we got the price down a further 20%
