Visas

We have booked a 5 night trip to New York in December, do we need visa's because some say no some say yes and the price seems to vary. Any advice would be very welcome.

You need to apply for an ESTA in the first instance, if you're denied because you don't meet the criteria you would then need to apply for a full visa.

You MAY need a visa if you are not eligible to travel under the Visa Waiver Program.

Check this first, before applying for an ESTA. (If you are not eligible for VWP it'll just be a waste of money.)
Everything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the end

We're assuming you're travelling on British passports, of course... if this isn't the case you'll have to specify which passport you have.

The variation in price is probably because there are a load of scam websites that will submit the ESTA application for you and charge you extra for it. Make sure you apply via the official website given in the previous posts.

Thanks for the replies. Yes all have British passports & we have not got criminal records so I can't see a reason why we wouldn't get the ESTA.

Be sure to go to the official ESTA site that an earlier poster linked to. There are some scam sites around which provide the same service but charge more for it.
