Another Yodel Complaint

Been reading the forums for a while and finally decided to register and contribute, all thanks to a recent experience with Yodel. From reading the forum, clearly I am not the only one to have problems!
My mother lives with me and my partner and is at home much of the day. We live in a house next to a corner and on the corner is an accountants office, who seem to receive a delivery or collection from Yodel at least once a day. The problem is, there is no parking outside the office and the Yodel driver almost always parks over our driveway to make his collection/delivery.
I appreciate he cannot park on the corner as this would be dangerous, but he should not be blocking our driveway. Luckily we do not use the drive during the day, but what if one of us had to return home unexpectedly? What also, if my mother were to run into difficulty whilst at home during the day, access to the drive may not be available for an ambulance or for my partner and I.
I called Yodel who said that we must email them with details, which we did and in return received a generic reply stating that drivers must observe the highway code, must not park illegally etc, basically just brushed me off. I have called the local depot, they have said they will remind their drivers not to block driveways or roads when parking to make deliveries, but I don't believe them. Is there anything more that can be done, as I find they are being quite unreasonable.

I am sure if an ambulance arrived, the Yodel driver would move his van quite quickly.
If you had to return home unexpectedly you would have to park elsewhere while the van was in the way.
How long is the van there for at any one time?

Have a read of that and if you still have any questions then please do post again.0 -
Have you spoken to the accountancy firm as they are the ones who have a contract with Yodel? If they were to complain then something might be done in order to retain their business.
To be brutally honest you are making a mountain out of a molehill. The Yodel driver has not caused you any actual inconvenience. What is the likelihood of one of your scenarios actually coinciding with the brief period that the van would be there?0 -
I would suggest that if anyone is being unreasonable it is you.

Most deliveries are done in a few minutes.
So you are saying you need 24 hour access to your driveway? So you are saying you are awake 24 hours, never go to the toilet, have a wash etc? He is parking safer than he would otherwise. He could always park on the corner so if it results in an accident how would you feel?
Delivery drivers are allowed to block the road for 20 mins if they have no choice. So if you moan about a few minutes then that what they will have to do and he will simply tell everyone why he doing it.
As for ambulances they will park close even if it means blocking everyone and blocking the whole road. Dont worry they will be there just as quick.
Plus yodel employ loads of drivers. Trust me it will take a long time before they all get the message. But I bet most wont care.0 -
Seriously! You say that you do not use the drive during the day so how can a van stopping to leave a parcel for 5 mins inconvenience you?
Have you ever had anything delivered - post, parcels, online orders, etc?
This will usually involve a physical delivery of the object and a van may be involved!0 -
A fat man crossed in front of my garage yesterday. I was outraged. He was blocking my egress for at least 9 seconds! "It's against the law!" I shouted at him, "What if my dog swallowed his toy frog and I had to take him to the vet immediately!" but he just stuck two fingers up and carried on walking. Can you believe it!?0

I never thought that I would see the day when I sided with Yodel. If you fold it in half, will an Audi A4 fit in a Citroen C5?
