Cooling off period - Sky

Please can someone advise me about cooling off periods? I understood if you cancel something within the cooling off period you should basically be put back in the position you were in before - as though it never happened.
We signed up for Sky, but cancelled after 3 days. They charged £25 up front (I assume for connection), now they want to charge another £30 odd for the first months rental. Not sure of the exact figures - hubby is dealing with it and he's out at the mo. so I can't check.
I just wanted to check if we should get the original £25 refunded to us and should we have to pay the full month's rental? I'm wondering if the person hubby spoke to on 'live chat' thought it was a standard cancellation rather than a cooling off period cancellation - or have I misunderstood the terms of a cooling off period?
Thanks.

How did you sign up to sky?You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0

Even if there is a 'cooling off period', you should expect to pay for any service used.
You haven't said whether the installation actually took place or not.
You need to read your documentation to get a better understanding of exactly what was agreed.
You cancelled after three days.
Was that three days after signing or three days after installation?0 -
unholyangel - hubby signed up with a salesman in the town centre.
wealdroam - we cancelled 3 days after installation.
I guess from what you are saying, we should not get a refund for the installation, as they did complete the work - well the first phase of it anyway. We were signed up for phone, TV and broadband. So far they have only connected the TV. I wonder if it's reasonable to ask for a partial refund based on the fact that they only connected 1 of the 3 services?
We had the TV connected for about 3 days (didn't use it for 3 full days, but it was connected). Hubby says they are asking for £7.50 rental (not £30 as I originally said - sorry). This £7.50 is for use of the TV for the few days we had it. Seems high to me as the deal was going to be about £50 per month for all 3 services (phone, broadband and TV) so £7.50 for 3 days for just one of the services doesn't sound like a fair calculation to me.0 -

Remember short term contracts for anything are relatively expensive.
E.g. a one day car hire is not one seventh of a weekly car hire.
There is nothing visible in the phone and broadband installation, so they may well have done all the work there too... just needing to send you the router.
Yes, the installation was completed... you owe that money.
Do they need to come and collect the sky box and dish?
Who pays for that?0
