OK- Zara started at some £30.00 per month with Argos around 7 years ago.

I am paying £130.00 per month now. Yes, per month.

Zara is a GS and she will be 8 yo in August.

She had a total hip replacement, both hips - paid for by Argos, all together while insured with them around 17k claims.

Your dog is 7, do not wait too long to insure as you may find problems finding anyone to insure a dog when he hits 8 and have a lot of exclusions then.

Bear in mind that that's with £17000 of claims from GR though - that's £200 a month if you spread it over the 7 years she's insured Zara, so technically she's still quids in.

I've always been with Tesco for my dog. I only had to claim once after paying for treatment of a paw cut on glass at an emergency vet on a Sunday night (£400!), but was fully reimbursed within 3 weeks.

I didn't claim for ongoing treatment (even though there were a few follow up visits costing a total of around £60).

I pay ~£11 per month for a single dog, aged 6, no ongoing health issues and the price has never changed in the 4-5 years I've been with them.

Absolutely right. And the premiums were not always so high - it is very unlikely my total premiums in Zara's total life will be equal to what I claimed/will claim for.

Apart from her hip replacement, I also claimed for unrelated blood tests, minor surgery on a growth on her front leg, some skin issues, biopsy on other front paw. Argos also pays for her Onsior which she takes every day.

Overall I am much better off with the insurance.
