Wiring of new bathroom light fitting

I've got into a bit of a mess trying to wire on a new bathroom light fitting; my first effort resulted in the light not switching off and further research revealed that I have wired this incorrectly but have a confusing set of answers online none of which seem to address my specific situation.
There are free wires coming from the ceiling: one consisting of 2 red and 1 earth, another 1 black, 1 red and 1 earth and another 1 black 1 red and 1 Earth; the light fitting has three holes labelled N,L and earth, I connected the 3 red ones to L, the 2 black to N and the 3 earths to earth.
When I switched on from the main they all came on but would not switch off!
Help! :j

You need a fourth connection:
- two of the reds, blacks and earths are the loop - this is the live run from the fusebox that goes from light to light around the house - it only goes off when you turn it off at the fuse box.
- one red, black and earth will go off to the light switch. the red should connect to the reds from the loop, whilst the black should be taped up to indicate it is a switched live, and connected to the live of the light.
- The light should then have its neutral connected to the blacks from the loop.
- The earths should all be connected together.0 -
You need to put the 3 reds together leaving 2 blacks and a red . All earths together, the reds in a connector and tape up. The 2 blacks together in a connector this is the neutral and will be the blue in your new fitting.. The remaining red is the live to the brown in the new light.
I hope it makes sence.0 -
The cable with two red insulated conductors will go to your light switch to form the live and switched live.. One of these wires will have red insulation (live), the other will be black with a red sleeve (switched live). The only live connection to your light fitting should be the switched live. The other two cables will be loopthrough to your other lights. The three live wires need to be connected together in an insulated junction box - not on the fitting. The 2 neutrals and 3 earths can go on the fitting.
Please don't take offence, but I am concerned that you don't know what you are doing, so my advice is to get a professional in.0 -
