Had two letters from afore mentioned company, giving me my annual statements for dual fuel. They apologised about a previous error, no idea what it was, and gave me guff about how much they were trying to help me, congratulating me coz I was on their cheapest tariff blah -blah. Very nice of them...only....they sent the letter 19th May, the tariff they said I was on ended 1st of May. I phoned this morning, and a very nice bloke called Alan confirmed I was now on the standard tariff, he gave a little laugh when I said " that means your info to me is out of date at best and a downright fib at worst" . never mind he's sending me an energy saving booklet absolutly FREE to make up for it, and threatened tears when I said I was probably leaving them. Be careful of them letters folks

As you said, most of it is guff.

Sadly, mostly imposed on the supplier by the regulator in some misguided idea it helps consumers.

I suggest you consult a comparison site asap, or perhaps jopin the CEC and be advised of better deals.

To allow a tariff to expire and then be transferred to the suppliers expensive standrtad tariff is not good moneysaving.

But one good rule the regulator has implemented is that at least the supplier is required to tell you in advance that the tariff is coming to an end and what will happen if you do nothing about it. A shame you didn't read that notice quite so carefully ...

I am a member of CEC, but not always on the ball, do it later type a gal. The point of my post was they did tell me a fib by post lol. Just reminding people to watch out for them, I am duly censured.
