Post Office house insurance offer

I've just obtained buildings cover for less than a tenner using this Post office offer mentioned on the latest MSE Email. Not bad especially if your quote is already low, in the 50 to 100 quid range.
We guarantee to beat your renewal quote by at least £50. Subject to the qualifying criteria we guarantee to beat the renewal premium offered by your existing insurer and save you at least £50 provided you purchase the policy.Terms and conditions apply. Please click on the Offer Terms and Conditions tab above for full details, we’ll consult our panel of insurers to find the best deal for you

    Not bad......

Depends whether you are happy to be insured by bisl (aka budget)!!

    Check their feedback/reviews on line.

There's a reason why they are cheap!

it's the same old though isn't it?

i.e people looking for the cheapest deal (no harm in that) but when it comes to the crunch, they will realise they are not covered for all aspects they thought, such as accidental damage etc, or squeal like pigs when they need to make a mid-term adjustment and get reamed for admin fees etc.

This is not a criticism of people looking for a good deal, but cheap usually means "cheap" and people need to look at the actual terms and level of cover before being blind-sided by the bargain basement quote.

I think the terms are like for like. Whether they are any good in a claim is something else. Companies often offer a loss leader to get on board. However, I made sure they unticked the automatic renew option. I applied partly by phone.

I agree that the cheapest quote may not be the best as regards to t&cs, excess fees, cover levels, etc.

But if you have checked these things and chosen the cover that you need, then why not go for the cheapest?

If you are concerned about customer service you could have a look here

Note that the rock bottom spot at that survey is occupied by budget (aka bisl)!
  • Well I would love to be able to get a chance of getting a quote offering to beat my renewal by £50 as the site mentions lots of times, but when I put my details in it tells me its not open to people over 50 - ageist or what!

Wont be looking to take any Post Office products any time soon.
