Switched via MSE Energy Club - Not Too Happy
Switched using MSE Energy Club and I can't say it's turned out to be a good thing. Right now, I owe £161 to my Gas and I've never known bills like this with Marks and Spencer Energy/SSE in my life.
I went through my bills and used the kwh (as advised for best) and so I really don't understand this at all.
In the last 4 months I've had a new boiler fitted - Worcester via British Gas as our old boiler was over 14 years old. I've also had new double glazing to all downstairs windows, so you might have thought things would be cheaper now as it all heats up quicker and keeps warm longer.
We do now have the heating on less time as the new boiler heats up the radiators much quicker and they are hotter than with the old boiler. We had a power flush done on the System too.
Our previous supplier was Sainsburys Energy, which I believe is British Gas.
Where did it all go wrong?:(

What were your old prices and what are your new prices?
How many kWh are you using this year in comparison to last year?0 -
"in my life"? That could be a long time. In only a decade prices are two and a half times what they were. If you switched near the end of summer or later even with an accurate projection your balance would be negative now.0

Higher bills will be .
One DD set on the high side .
Two you joined and picked a high rate tariff .
Three you are using more .
When you transferred you took readings just take new readings and work out your total usage and cost.
Must say the MSE Energy Club switch just worked for me .0 -
My last supplier was Sainsburys Energy - that's British Gas! I was with them for only 2 years and this was a higher rate tariff at the time than others as you got Nectar Points on the bills. MSE comparison said that this new one would SAVE me nearly £100 on that tariff - but it hasn't worked out that way at all.0

It's probably just that the estimates they've done are on the high side.
I also joined M&S through the MSE energy club and the estimate they gave me for over christmas, when compared to my actual usage is far higher.
Get some new meter reading, ring them up and find out if thats the case.*Assuming you're in England or Wales.0 -

Thanks for your feedback and comments on the Cheap Energy Club. The results we provide are based on usage (either estimated or actual depending on what you have entered on your account), and as mentioned in this thread, sometimes your supplier may set your direct debits higher than you might expect it they have not correctly estimated your future usage. It might be worth taking a look at the guide on this and how to fight back.

If you remain unhappy with your tariff, you could always switch again through Cheap Energy Club.0 -

Yes, that would be MSEs attitude seeing as they make a shedload from the CEC. They refuse to disclose exactly how much their cut is or that punters would be better off going via a cash back site themselves and getting the commission. This site is becoming more commercial each week.0 -

I would look at topcash, although do check for any fees you may incur if on a fixed tariffDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0 -
