What should I use?

I'm in the middle of painting my garden shed, and it's going really well..apart from the front of it bizarrely, where the wood stain is seeping through the paint (its going on like a dream the other 2 sides). Do I need to buy stain block to fix this? or would using oil based gloss do it? would water based gloss work?

Common problem. Helpful to know what the stain is, but try one/several of these: oil-based undercoat; shellac sealer (Zinsser); proprietary stain blocker.
