Can Anybody Name this Shrub?
As per title:-
I moved into my house about 5 years ago. At the bottom of the garden a pretty huge bush/shrub was established (about 2 metres high X about the same in diameter). It has reddish/brownish leaves throughout the year. For the first year ever it has white, flowering growth.
Anybody know what it is? Unfortunately I can't photograph it at present.

Photina, Pieris, Berberis?
You'd probably be best Googling 'Red leaves, white flowers' and see if you recognise anything.0 -
I've tried the Google route - the answers are all a little obscure! I've also asked around and nobody has any suggestions for this flowering once in 5 years scenario.
I'm dumbfounded!0 -
If you google identifying plant, you do come up with some web pages where you answer questions. I just tried this on botanicalkeys.co.uk you simply answer the questions, ie leaf size, where you found the plant, etc. It might be worth trying that one or one of the other pages.0

I think it could be a Photinia. They can take a while to flower if they are young. Do you think maybe it wasn't pruned last year that's why it flowered as pruning can affect the ability of a shrub to flower ? Or maybe it could be a Nandina (Heavenly Bamboo)they have red leaves on young foliage until Summer when they turn green.0

Thanks all - I think it may be a photinia. Over the years I have hacked at it because it became huge - couldn't be bothered last year so that would explain the flowers.0
