  • I would definitely put the rugs on Freecycle, even if they are tatty, someone might want them for a potting shed or something, or even to put on a patch of garden as a weed suppressant!

    If you have bulky stuff, it might be worth ringing the council and asking if they will come and collect separately from the roadside. My ma did this recently with a couple of old sofas.

    Make sure you have bedding in a box so that you can make up beds for a good nights sleep!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and do it as soon as you can.........then at least you can fall into bed when you have had enough.

    If you check in your local paper, they quite often have ads for a man with a van who will come and take rubbish to the dump for you. You could arrange this for the day before you leave perhaps? Alternatively you could ask your movers whether they would be prepared to also do a run to the dump for you as part of the move?
