Chess Telecom - Admin fees to close account

Options
We have a contract with Chess Telecoms due to expire at the end of the month. We gave them 30 days notice that we weren't renewing the contract. They have now just said that we need to pay an admin fee of £99 to close the account. The contract we have signed does not mention this, but the T&Cs page does say they are a brief summary of the main T&C s and to go to the website to see the full ones. When you do it says that there is £99 fee if we wish to cease or port our number.
Seems pretty unfair when we have come to the end of our contract to charge us to shut it down. Plus not being made aware there was a charge earlier, and it being hidden in some online T&Cs!
What are our rights to contest? We are only a small charity and hadn't factored in these additional costs.

Are you porting the number? Is this a business account? Did you sign up online, and were the full terms linked to during that process?

Edit: Looking at the terms this charge appears to be for a non geographic number - is this the case?
  • Hey thanks for responding! :)Yes it is a business account and yes we have ported the number. We were sold the contract through an agent and they input the details into the form but then we must have checked and approved it. Not sure if the document linked to the web or not at that stage.
It's not a non geographic number and having looked again at the T&C I think they are trying to charge us in association with para 3.7 (iv), but the link here doesn't show me the current rates, just to add more mystery. Perhaps I can contest it on that, and if they have altered the rates over the last 24 months they may? have to have notifed us on our bill - clause 9.2. Either way it it a bit rubbish, as they could easily have added it to the summary T&C document, as they did with lots of other charges.
