Hi
I am not very tech savvy and I need to buy a new laptop for my son. He mainly uses it for web surfing, however he also does some video and audio converting. Oh, and plays Football Manager. I have seen this laptop on the Dell website, and I am able to purchase the £469 model for £420 with a discount code I have received
dell.com/uk/p/inspiron-15r-5537/pd.aspx?c=uk&cs=ukepp1&l=en&s=dhs&~ck=mn
Could anyone confirm that this would be a suitable laptop for him?
Thanks

You should ask him, first and foremost.Friendly greeting!0

They are the things he has said he does on his current laptop. He left it up to me to find a new one.
Any help would be appreciated0 -
you may want to try the gaming thread as that may direct you to the sort of power he needs.
I like Dell and the 15R is a reasonable bit of kit (cue others to say otherwise!). I just think you could meet his needs for much less money.
Wjat sort of "audio and video converting" does he do? Video transformation can be heavy on the CPU. Has a Haswell so should be good for that, either i5 or i7 should do the trick.
Does he need a touchscreen? want one? does he need a higher res screen than the 15R offers?
Should go down a shop stocking computers so he can get a "wish list" of features together, then you're better equipped to choose an appropriate laptop. Not until you look at the many options out there can anyone say if this is sufficient.
If that all seems too much bother.... ;-)Friendly greeting!0
