Balance Transfers

I have taken a Balance Transfer with Tescos and still use the card for spending each month. They have told me that although I clear off what I have purchased each month because I do not pay off the whole balance including the interest free balance transfer I get charged interest on the purchase since the purchase was made. So by having balance transfer I have lost the interest free period on purchases. Is this right.

Yes. Interest is only waived if you clear in full each month.0
