Hi all,
We've written about the heating oil provider Craggs Energy, and it's new Oil Price Protect tariff, in our Cheap Heating Oil Guide. This is a new tariff that enables customers to fix their prices for kerosene oil over a 12-month contract.
If you’ve used the tariff, please let us know how you got on, and please share any good or bad points, plus any tips.
If you haven’t already, join the forum to reply. If you aren’t sure how it all works, read our New to Forum? Intro Guide.
Thanks for your help,
MSE Marcel

With regards to the article about Craggs Energy I just wanted to say that I work for a fuel company in Worcestershire who supply heating oil in a 30 mile radius from our three depots. We have, for the last 4 years, offered our customers a Capped price which is obviously far better than fixed as if the spot price falls below the Capped price then the customer never loses out. I just wanted to point this out as the article seemed to suggest that nothing like the Craggs Energy deal had been offered before to oil users.0

Sadly buying heating oil is dependent on local depots. As far as I can tell Craggs are a local business, have no national presence, and are 200 miles from me.
From my POV it's not much use to publicise this in a national forum. I cannot use them; hardly anyone here will be able to either.0 -
Hello Richard, we are indeed are a local fuel distributor. We deliver fuel to homes, farms and businesses via our own fleet of vehicles across the North West and Yorkshire. However, we have supply agreements with like-minded fuel distributors across the entire UK.
When you sign up to our Fixed Price Heating Oil scheme your agreement is with us and we arrange delivery to you via one of our partners. They act only as the delivery mechanism.
At the time of releasing our Fixed Price initiative we were indeed the only fuel company in the UK to offer a Fixed Price Kerosene to domestic oil buyers. The advantage of fixing your fuel price is that you lock in your price for 12 months and know exactly what you are paying regardless of what the market does. Of course we strongly recommend locking in your price when the market price of Kerosene is at its cheapest – then you receive a triple benefit by having a cheap price all year round, guaranteed supply and peace of mind knowing what your annual amount of fuel will cost!
These days there are many options for domestic Heating Oil buyers; some will suit one individual and some won't. Fixing your price is just one more option.
