You are liable. Make sure you cancel all your cards and switch bank accounts. Sign up for Experian to see what other nasty surprises you may have headed your way.

The ex is only an additional card holder to ur account, so I think I am right in saying that u are liable for the debt. U need to get the account frozen so she can't spend anymore, and I would certainly suggest getting some advice from a solicitor... go to the CAB if u can't afford one.
This is probs not what u wanted to hear!:o

My ex did the same thing to me many years ago, unfortunately as I was the primary card holder and I had to cover the cost.
Certainly get some legal advice, but unless something has changed in the last 10 years I think you will be stuck with the bill.Aiming to be debt free....but still off target0 -
Sorry to be another bearer of bad news, but the other posts are correct. If your spouse was an additional card holder, then not only are you fully responsible for repayment, but any missed payments, problems etc will only show up on your credit report and not under her name! This changes dramatically if it was a joint account, then you would be jointly and seperately responsible.
But from what you are saying it sounds like the spouse is purely an additional card holder.
Cancel EVERYTHING the ex was involved in. For 12k you might want to consider legal action (the audit trail is easy to produce) and try to enforce the debt. But I guess it depends on if there is any possibility of recovery. Otherwise its throwing more money away! best of luck.0
