Credit Card overpayment discovery

I recently did a finance health check on my bank accounts and discovered that I had apparently not paid a DD to Barclay card. So I investigated it on the internet and found that Barclay card automatically reduce a DD by the overpayment you make. After a little thought I decided to make the over payment the same as the DD plus what I wanted to pay extra, this has resolved the issue of the DD being reduced. The added bonus is the DD is still active so there is no chance of missing a payment. I find it a bit naughty of Barclay card not to inform me of this or if they do have it in print I haven't seen it.

If you have a look on your statement or in your t&cs, I'm sure you'll find it in there.

    from the barclaycard web site
As you choose to pay your statement total each month by Direct Debit, we will collect only if your additional payment is lower than the total, and then only the difference.
