Using left over diesel oil in petrol engine

It's labelled "Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel". It has the usual long list of the specifications that it meets, but I don't think there's any info about additives/detergents which is what I'm concerned about.
I still cant answer as there is no usual long list - the lists are different. That's what I was meaning.
You need to read and understand them - but basically all you need to look for is:
if it says it's an 'A ' oil it is recommended for Petrol engines.
or a 'B' oil for diesels.
or if it says A & B - which is obviously suitable for both.
'C' rating is for diesels with a DPF.
The SAE (e.g. 0W-30 or 10W-40) rating would be of lesser importance if you are just using it for topping up in small quantities.0 -
I can use diesel engine oil in my Harley Davidson. AIUI diesel engine oil has proper anti wear additives that petrol engine oils lack (used to be zinc) , because they damage the catalyst.
I wouldn't use it in The Car except as a top up.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

This scrubs a petrol engine and removes some of the lubrication qualities.
If its a choice of any oil or no oil and its a scrapper. then use what you have. If its something you dont want to scrap just yet then get the correct oil.
Maybe if you use oil from the last century. Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel 0W-40 meets most specs, and certainly petrol engines ACEA A3/B3 and ACEA A3/B4. I use the same oil in all my petrols and diesels, and buy it in 20l drums. (Not Mobil, but I happily would) If the engine needs a very specific grade the op needs to check the spec here. http://www.mobil.co.uk/UK-English-LCW/carengineoils_products_mobil-1-turbo-diesel-0w40.aspx#0
