Seeing talk of driverless cars on this forum scares me when other threads are full of people gloating about how much they can skimp on maintenance or decent tyres, or looking to get in dept on a car they can't afford to buy never mind keep properly serviced, when these driverless cars fall into those peoples hands its going to get interesting.

Why would you own a driverless car ?

you want to go to work ..your booking app has that as a regular daily pickup ..
Want to go visit buddies in London on Friday night ..you have pre booked a week in advance for a 30% discount ..or an over night sleeper for 50% discount .
The car just drops you off and does it's other business ..why bother owning it for all of it's parking up time ?

Some big corporation will be the owner of your car ..maybe someone like BMW or Toyota ..or Google

Driving is a privilege, not a right ....

Wrong, it's a right. We all have the right to drive, but that right does come with responsibilities.

We do still (just) live in a democracy, where the only privilege is the one we give to the government - to govern.
