Coolermaster case -tool free expansion slots-how to open?

Hi folks,

Just wondering has anyone worked with the tool free expansion slot locks on the coolermaster silio 500 or similar coolermaster case?

My pc is 4 years old and has the above case, although there is a hole to attach a screw on the case as well to secure the expansion card, I have never been able to get to grips on how to open the tool free which seems like a little plastic type thing.

I have even managed to break a few of these plastic tool free things, so just put screw in expansion card in normal way.

How the hell does this tool free thing work, you can pull a little plastic lever out a bit in older to slip card plate in, but then its a night mare as there is not any room to manoeuvre card into motherboard.

Beats me the tool free things, isn't it supposed to make it simple?

It looks like you can just press down the marked tab (with lines) this allows the hinged bit to swing outside the case, then just slide the card in and press the hinged bit back into position locking the card in.

Getting a card in doesn't seem any harder then any other case, although because its only a mid tower case fitting larger gfx cards might be a struggle

Ah Thanks Rob, you are 100% correct, I got it.

Pity I didn't know that before I was trying to open the other ones a few years ago, then I wouldn't have cracked the plastic. ah well!

Funny really with technology and particularly with computers to push things in place, I am often left with the choice of pushing firmly and maybe breaking something or not hard enough and it not fitting.

Just yesterday I tool out the condenser from a hoover condenser drying to clean it, and it wouldn't go back in afterwards. I thought it was broken or something wrong with plastic casing.

I wasn't pushing firmly enough, fitted ok in end with a firm push-in. I always seem to have this dilemma with technology....lol
