Best Annual Multi Trip Travel Insurance?

Options
Hi,

I'm going on a number of short European city breaks over the Summer (lucky me!) but I have no idea which is the best annual multi trip insurance to invest in.

I've been trying to research this for quite a while, but I always get so confused by all the terminology, reading all the various reviews on offer and the large number of insurance companies out there who offer this option. It makes the decision seem all the more daunting!

I have used Staysure and Liverpool Victoria in the past, just from looking at websites such as Which?, but a number of my friends say that they're not the best.

Any advice would be must appreciated!

Many thanks,
Sophie

Which? will give you the best overall view, Defaqto will tell you the best product features. Depends on what you want, not everyone needs the top levels of cover where as for others fantastic service is good but if the limits arent high enough its pointless

You could always try the DeFaqto website - they compare policies by cover provided, not price. Although they don't have any info on claims service - which is the third corner of any good insurance policy.
  • Thank you so much for your expertise! I've never heard of Defaqto before, so I will definitely be looking into this to hunt down the best insurance for myself and my travels.

Good customer care is a must, and like you said, they must also offer good coverage too - I've heard too many horror stories about getting caught out!

    Thanks again!

Defaqto is a good place to start but ultimately treat them like hotel star rating. To get a rating you must tick certain boxes, you could have some great extra features but because they arent on the tick box form you dont get any credit for them, likewise you can create a policy with the bare minimum to achieve the desired star rating and absolutely nothing more.

The £35 a night 5 star all inclusive hotel I saw in Cyprus probably doesnt compare at all to the Ritz or Dorchester but all are technically 5 star hotels.
  • Now it all makes sense - when I first had a look it was a bit confusing. Thanks again for your help and expert advice.

I like the PJ Haymen "Travel Plus" multi trip cover, it has unusual benefits such as new for old on baggage, financial failure of airline / accomadation and natural disasters such as volcanoes.

It also covers family members including kids to travel independently.

It won't be the cheapest though
  • This is a great option to consider - thanks! I don't mind it being cheap, would like to ensure all eventualities are covered. Whenever I buy travel insurance I always feel there is a loophole (to their benefit) lurking somewhere in the small print.

We wouldn't go to any trip without a passport or tickets, but most of us goes to holiday trip without insurance. Getting the best travelling insurance for yourself or the peoples travelling with you can be the best purchase outside your home.
When you decided to purchase a travel insurance then you have to ensure you are selecting the best insurance policy which gives good cover for individuals need. It is the most important thing for you to know about the level of cover. I will suggest you to take £2m of medical cover if you are going abroad.

Also don't forget to look at packaged bank accounts - as an example Nationwide's FlexPlus account offers worldwide travel insurance within it's £10 per month fee, so £120 per year.
