Raising a family in a house with thin walls

Just wondered if anybody else is raising a family in a house with super thin walls. I live in a terrace with walls that seem to be made of paper!
I have had issues with noisy neighbours (that has nothing to do with having thin walls - that was just people taking the mick) but I mean general every day noise i.e. you can hear your neighbours talking, tv etc. It's not anti social and it's not stopping you living your life, it's just not what you want from a house.
Does it bother you or your children?
How do you work round it?
I've ready threads on here about sound proofing but noise doesn't just come through walls, surely it comes through floors and ceilings too so there is no real solution, it's just the way the houses were built.

My house is about 120 yrs old. The walls are so thin I can hear the neighbour changing his mind. But my mind tunes it out. It doesn't bother me. There are millions of houses like that and it doesn't stop people getting on with their lives.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

Haha my house is prob nearer 200 years old (although you wouldn't think so from looking at it, it has no character features even externally).
My child has suddently started noticing that we can hear next door sneezing, singing, shutting their kitchen cupboard doors etc. I try and make a joke out of it and remind him that they will be able to hear us. He hasn't yet noticed that we can hear the man next door having a pee - yuck. Does that mean they can hear us when we are on the loo?!?!?!?
I don't actually know anyone else who experiences this, everyone else's house seems to be soundproof!0
