    Yes, it can be.
    But not necessarily when you're already as low as the OP has suggested.

    And the alternative is the better of two evils then? I can't imagine it being less liberating than dwelling for 12 weeks with no money.

    Obviously, it depends how bad your depression is. I've had it so bad that I couldn't get up in the morning and make myself food. Let alone get to uni.

    Nor can I. But then I don't have severe depression as opposed to being a bit down in the dumps.
