Sold car without logbook
Hi guys
I seem to be posting a lot in the motoring forum recently. Hope you're not sick of me!
I'm buying a new car so have just sold my old one. It was an old (53) banger (151k miles) and I sold it for £300. Unfortunately I couldn't find the logbook but the buyer accepted a discount and I sold it without one. I took a receipt acknowledging the sale and had the buyer sign.
Just looking for some advice about what to do now. I will write to DVLA tomorrow to notify them of the sale. Is there anything else that I need to do? I'm aware that any parking tickets etc may initially come my way but hopefully my receipt will be enough to fend them off.
Is writing to DVLA enough? Obviously I can't force the buyer to complete and return a form for a new logbook but he'll need to be registered to get a new road tax disc right?
Tell me I'm being paranoid!

I did this, wrote to them explaining I was no longer the owner of said vehicle, and they write back confirming they have updated their database.
Didn't take too long at all. From https://www.gov.uk/notifying-dvla-if-you-sell-your-vehicle
If you don’t have your V5C registration certificate
If you don’t have a V5C registration certificate write to DVLA, Swansea, SA99 1AR giving the:
vehicle registration mark
make and model
exact date of sale
name and address of the new keeper
your signature0 -
Brilliant, thank you marcarm!0

Do it quickly, as when the new keeper applies for a V5, you get a fine if you didn't notify them.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
(except air quality and Medical Science
