UKCPS what happens now?

Hello all,

I would really appreciate your help here.

I recently took a trip to a local cinema, with free parking provided. On arrival at the venue, the car park was completely full with other cars parked everywhere possible, including cars on the central islands, grass banks, pavements, etc.

I spent 30 mins driving around looking for a space - to no avail. Time was drawing close to the cinema start time so I found a secluded space well out of the way of any harm and definitely not causing hassle for anyone - however (I know this may sound stupid) I parked on double yellows. I did this as I know from previous research that if it is not a council run car park - you can just ignore the ticket and not have to worry about paying.

On searching the MSE forums, it has become apparent that ignoring a PCN is no longer the correct way.

The lovely bunch of low lives at UKCPS have sent me a letter to which it now states I must pay £100 for being parked "out of marked bay".

My question to you all is:
1. Why must I not ignore them & what ultimately happens if I do ignore all correspondance?
2. What should I do now?

I was certainly not causing any problems parking where I did, I was not blocking anything/anyone but the fact of the matter is I parked there in a rush hoping i'd get away with it (i'll be honest) as other people were parked all over as detailed above.

If I need to provide any more info to help you helping me (bar my personal info), just say as your help would be very much appreciated.

Read the NEWBIES thread and all should become clear. You risk being taken to court if you do not deal with it.
However if you appeal according to what you learn, you will be successful in getting the PCN cancelled.

Simply use the first template to appeal to the PPC. Await rejection the. Pop back here for help with POPLA appeal which you will win.

UKCPS tend to issue court proceedings. You may well get to meet Mr Haswell in court if you ignore it.

Before any of that you have failed to mention if this is England or Wales ? Or if you are the registered keeper?
When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.
We don't need the following to help you.
Name, Address, PCN Number, Exact Date Of Incident, Date On Invoice, Reg Number, Vehicle Picture, The Time You Entered & Left Car Park, Or The Amount of Time You Overstayed.

My bad. It is in England and I am indeed the registered keeper.

Fine so send the usual template appeal in the NEWBIES thread, first stage done by copy & paste into a letter in minutes! You'll need to post it normal 1st class (do NOT ever send anything to a PPC 'signed for' as they won't!). Get a free cert of posting at the PO Counter.

And email the BPA to complain that UKCPS don't provide an email address for appeals which the BPA CoP says they should - and also complain if they have given you the impression that, as keeper, you can only now appeal if the car is stolen. That's wrong so if they've used that letter then complain to the BPA by email (see the NEWBIES thread).
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
CLICK at the top or bottom of any page where it says:
