HSBC Bank Charge

I use online banking, and spent various amounts of money from friday and over the weekend.
I tried to keep a track of my balance myself as the online banking system does not update over the weekend.
When i checked my account yesterday evening (monday), none of my weekend transactions were showing, and my balance was not reflecting what was in there.
I had my wage paid in at midnight, and when ive checked my account today it has now updated with all of my weekend transactions, but now shows a negative balance for yesterday of - £3. I also had a nice message informing me that i now have a £25 overlimit charge due to this.
Is this fair and can i complain against it? When i checked my bank yesterday none of these transactions were visible and had i known i had miscalculated my weekend spending by £3, i would have asked my partner to transfer me £3 in to make up this shortfall.
Thanks for reading. Any advice is appreciated.

Yes it is fair. You cant complain against it as the banks won the court case on bank charges and complaints about "unfair" bank charges are no longer considered.
Spending money before it is in your account is a risky thing to do. you are flirting with bank charges if the debits come in before the credit does. However, as said above, if it is your first error then most banks will refund as a goodwill gesture if you ask them nicely.
It is your job to keep your bank account reconciled with what you have in it and what transactions have yet to go through. If you dont then you risk this happening again.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. I suggest you contact the bank.
A £3 borrowing should not result in a £25 charge. In fact, as it's less than £10 there should be no charge at all.
Refer them to their own fair fees policy.
