arrrghhh

i clicked on a "free trial" offer (only pay postage) for some magical beauty stuff!! carefully reading all the script and was advised a week later that this company then take further money from your account. so.... duly cancelled my card yet they have still taken money. the bank say i can query this when the statement comes in and have put a block on these people taking any further money.

despite being savvy i feel dumb...... and annoyed.

b*gger b*gger b*gger.

A disappointing thing to happen. Maybe naming and shaming the actual company could help others steer clear of them...

As you have discovered, cancelling the card does not stop a CPA, hopefully the bank have done this now.
What does the ts&cs on the site say about cancelling and refunds?

You may not get the payment they have taken back from the bank process as there is likely something that you ticked to authorise this but you may be able to get it back from the company

Cancelling a card doesn't cancel the account it is linked to ... charges can still be made using the (old) card details supplied.

    Edit: SNAP! :)

PS - what has cardio-pulmonary respiration got to do with card payments? :D Oh! You meant CPA (Continuous Payment Authority). ;)

hi yes i know that now :-)

anyway the company are one moment essential and also belveda.

one moment took money today (which drained my account) and fortunately belvedas request for £80 ish was bounced.

you live and learn, nothing on the site i clicked on had terms and conditions on it and even the email i received from them stated "risk free trial" absolutely nothing at all about being charged. when i found out what their game was i emailed them last week saying i did not give them permission to take further monies from my account. They ignored me.
luckily the bank say they will now block them from doing it again.

Although it doesn't help you now, at the bottom of the page where you entered your card details it says in very small, and very faint print:
You will have 14 days from your original order date to see if One Moment Essential Day Cream is right for you. If you are unhappy with the product at any time during those 14 days, you must contact us to cancel your order to avoid the purchase fee of £89.99 for the full cost of the product. If you are satisfied with our product no action is necessary. Every thirty days thereafter we will send you a new 30-day supply of our product, and automatically bill you. Please read our terms and conditions for more details, etc, etc...
    And you did agree to:
By placing your order you agree to the Terms and Conditions.

It seems as though they will bill you every month so it is important to ensure you have cancelled your subscription.
