folder icons not opening on desktop...

Can anyone help please? I have a few folders on the desktop but none of them opening today...I have a message saying 'file does not have a program accssociated to perform this action. Install a program or create association in default program control panel. '

The desktop icons are usually just shortcuts for other files or programs.
This is happening because the original files have been removed, deleted, moved into another folder, renamed or the program needed to open the file has been removed.

It's when I double click any folder. I have made one folder call me with all music. However I noticed that now I am able to right click and go to open. That way the folders do open....0

Exactly. Right click then choose 'open with'. Then select 'always use this program to open file of type .xyz' and it should remember in future.No free lunch, and no free laptop
