I applied for a course, got a letter in post about it but it wasnt franked, as I did not know where it was from I didnt want to risk it being important so paid £1.53 for it to find out it was just confirmation of a interview which I already had by text.
I contacted the college saying they forgot to frank it so I had to pay and they refused to reimburse me!! I am on benefits living off under £20 a week so that is a lot to cover for their mistake, they admitted there was a fault with their franking machine and many people were affected!

£20 a week? What benefit is that low?
You could put in a formal complaint, removing the emotive language to the college principal or dean, detailing your concern and wish to be reimbursed.
Do you have a receipt for the payment made of £1.53?0 -

I have the card stating it was underpaid and kept the original envelope.
And by £20 a week I mean after rent is paid and council tax but before utilities or food or travel.0 -
It wont get you the £1.53 back but when you get junk mail post it to them without a stamp and see how they like it.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

Good idea - seeing as it was a confirmation of interview, maybe write back to them confirming your attendance... with no stamp!0
