Hello all
So..... after 5 long months we are due to complete on our property next Wednesday and I was just wondering what happens on completion day, do I just wait in, waiting for the phone to ring? We're at the top of our chain so heard we may have keys before lunch??
FTB here and so glad this drawn out, excruciating process is almost over :T

Your solicitor sends the money to the vendor's solicitor's bank account and the vendor's solicitor confirms to the vendor and to the selling agent that completion has taken place and keys can be released.

Hope it all goes well for you and you enjoy your new house.0

I'm not sure of the chain order in terms of completion but your solicitor wil let you know when completion has happened. Usually you can then collect the keys from the EA.
Insanely jealous that you have made it to the finish line!!0 -
Thank you! Although there were times when I thought it would never happen, we had major issues with land not being registered and needing to be registered before we could purchase, nightmare after nightmare after our offer was accepted back in January!!!... but we got there in the end

The EA are not local so I'm guessing the keys will be collected from solicitors but will ring them the day before completion to confirm.0 -
The purchaser's solicitor can only say the money has been sent. He can't confirm it has been received and he can't confirm completion. That has to be done by the vendor's solicitor who will receive the purchase monies and sanction key release.your solicitor wil let you know when completion has happenedI am a mortgage broker. Congraulations!! We have also had a long wait - our offer accepted end of December and due to problems with work on the property and terrible solicitors... but we seem to be moving along the last few stages now - just waiting for contracts to be finalised and we can get signing!!0
