Switching from the Staywarm scheme.
Hi, I'm hoping someone can help me with this question. I was with Eon on the Staywarm scheme. This meant I did not have to worry about my consumption of Gas and Electricity, as such. I still always had an eye to the environmental issue of my carbon footprint though and did not use power wastefully.
Staywarm ended for me at midnight on the 13th of May (this month). in the run up to it ending I did a mountain of washing, spring cleaning etc. but from midnight on the 13th I have been very frugal.
I am in the process of switching to 'First Utility' as my new provider. I understand this may take another month or so. Can anyone tell me how Eon will decide how much Gas and Electric I have used from the 13th of May, to when I switch please ?? If they take an average from when I last had the meter read, this seems unfair, as though I did use an awful lot just prior to the 13th, since the 13th I have used very little indeed. Hope someone can help me. I suffer with depression and stress issues, having to leave the Staywarm scheme is very worrying for me

I have no idea on the meter reading question, although I'm sure one of the helpful e.on reps will be here shortly.
Don't worry about leaving Staywarm - in most cases you can get it cheaper elsewhere - see the last post in this thread for example:

Hi porshacat
Did you take meter readings on the day Staywarm ended?
If you did, please let us know. We'll finalise your Staywarm account to these readings.
Going forward, we'll bill your energy usage starting from these readings. This will help keep things accurate.
If you don't have readings, we'll close the Staywarm part using estimates based on the past 12 months usage at the property.
Even though Staywarm customers paid a set monthly amount regardless of usage, we'll have continued to take meter readings. This will have helped when looking at renewals in the time before we closed the Staywarm scheme.
Once the switch goes through, your new supplier will let us know the readings they intend to use to start their account. We'll use the same readings to close your account. This makes sure you're only charged once for the same energy.
Your final bill from us will be from the reading we used to close Staywarm up to the reading First Utility give us.
I do understand going from Staywarm to conventional billing is a big change. It looks as though you're on top of your usage but if you need any more advice about ways to cut back we'll be happy to help.
There's also some good stuff on our website that might help.
Hope this is of interest porshacat. Let me know if I can help further as happy to do so.
